I am Aislinn Ross, a visual artist and founder of Sincreto.
My work stems from the relationship between body, matter, and space. I am interested in how a form can contain an idea, how an object can acquire presence beyond its function, and how matter can transform the way we inhabit a place.
I work primarily with concrete, a material traditionally associated with structure, weight, and permanence. I am interested in bringing it toward more organic and sensitive forms, exploring the tensions between strength and vulnerability, permanence and transformation, containment and expansion.
Sincreto started in 2020 as a research space focused on concrete and its possibilities as a sculptural medium.
The practice is situated at the intersection of art and design, developing objects that may be functional, but are not defined solely by their function. Each piece stems from formal and material research in which weight, scale, texture, balance, and tension build a presence of their own.
The body has been one of the starting points for this research: not merely as a representation, but as a way to occupy, contain, strain, and relate to space.
From there, the practice continues to expand into new forms, materials, and processes, maintaining a constant search regarding matter and its capacity to construct meaning.
